Volunteer with us.
We need people like you. People who know that while we all come from diverse backgrounds, we’re all one community. Together we can make sure everyone has the nutritious food they need to live and thrive.
We have a number of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups at one of our three locations: Foxwood Food Center, Chattanooga Area Food Bank- Main Warehouse, Chattanooga Area Food Bank- Northwest GA/Dalton Branch.
What We Do
Working with hundreds of Community Partners, and with the help of thousands of volunteers and donors, we are working to end hunger in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. With donations from grocery stores, manufacturers, farms, individuals, food drives, and the USDA, our food is sorted and packed by volunteers at one of three warehouses. Once the food is sorted and packed, it’s delivered to church pantries, senior centers, and other nonprofits that provide food to hungry people, sack packs for kids, Emergency Food Boxes, and Mobile Pantry Pop-Ups.
Our mission is to lead a network of partners and unite the community to eliminate hunger by feeding, nourishing, and empowering those we serve.

Children between the ages of 12-15 must be accompanied by an adult, and a permission form must be completed and returned at time of volunteering.

hello@mckameyanimalcenter.org
Volunteers are an essential part of the inner-workings of McKamey Animal Center and play an important role in saving animal lives in Chattanooga! Volunteers are at the frontlines of helping staff to provide quality love and care for animals and helping get them into forever homes!
We are always looking for passionate, dedicated volunteers to help us further our mission and we can put almost any skill and interest to good use! Check out the available volunteer roles below.
Volunteer Requirements
Volunteers 16 years of age or older may volunteer independently.
Volunteers age 10-15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for all shifts and training.
Volunteers must attend a New Volunteer Orientation prior to beginning volunteer service.
All volunteers must complete four hours of Essential Shelter Help (non-animal handling tasks) before they are able to work with animals.
All volunteers must be willing to commit to a minimum of 6 hours of service each month for at least 6 months, ideally the same 2-hour shift per week.
To help with costs and not take away from the animals in our care, volunteers are asked to pay a one-time $25 commitment fee, which covers the cost of your volunteer t-shirt, nametag, and training.
